SHE MAKES WAR – SINGLE REVIEW

She Makes War – Undone
She Makes War - Undone

Release Date: Out Now

“Bristol based producer and creative indie powerhouse”; that’s the press blurb and, for once, it’s pretty much right on the money. She Makes War has featured on this blog a few times and every time it’s because her music has stopped me in my tracks. New single ‘Undone’ follows in the pattern of stopping me in my tracks but this time it’s because the melodies seem to stray from major to minor with malevolent ease. In amongst the crunchy 90s guitars and She Makes War’s razor blade sharp but light vocals, there’s an unsettling unease in lyrics like “you say life goes on, but I’ve come undone, some days I just really miss someone”. It’s the nagging feeling at the back of your mind when your staring out of the window of the bus on your way home from work as the rain pours down and you know all you have to look forward is a frozen curry for one and an episode of Friends you’ve seen before but can’t remember the ending of. The track ends on a major chord, though, so that’s good.
