New Yorker Jules Walcott comes
across, initially, as a dramatic alt-pop artist with the start of ‘First to the
Altar’ sounding like the kind rabble-rousing stadium pleasing anthem that Pink
or Katy Perry would bust out. The chorus, however, matches the pounding beat
with some meaty guitars and Walcott’s vocal goes to a more heavy rock place and
the power of an Evanescence track. Walcott has a powerful voice and a sense of
the dramatic which works well together along with power of that chorus.
