FOXTROTT – SINGLE REVIEW

Foxtrott – Deliver (One Little Indian Records)
Foxtrott - Deliver

Release Date: Out Now

Prejudice is a funny thing isn’t it? It wasn’t until sitting down to listen to this new release from Foxtrott that I realised the word ‘Producer’ for me always conjured images of men. Bearded and tired looking men. Well, Montreal’s Foxtrott is a producer (as well as a musician and vocalist) and she is a fully grown woman so take that, prejudice. Foxtrott’s new single, ‘Deliver’, is an absolute peach with a slowed down R’n’B flow and the sparsest of instrumentation creating a bed for her vocals to luxuriate upon. There’s a grey cloud vibe going on and you can feel this tune hunched against the wind and the world but Foxtrott’s vocal is calling us home to a warmer place with a tempting siren call. The chorus melody ripples and unfolds so smoothly it’s like a soft, warm blanket being draped over your shoulder – both metaphorically and physically – with calmness and reassurance at its core. Gorgeous and inviting.
