I don’t usually go in for videos
of bands performing their songs in the studio – it doesn’t take a lot of
imagination to picture that when you hear the music and see a picture of the
band – but this is the second such video I’ve seen from Californian duo El Ten
Eleven and I find them mesmerising. Essentially, the video for new single ‘Three
and a Half Feet High and Rising’ is just two dudes jamming out in the studio
with a huge amount of equipment and some loop pedals but it just looks like
they are totally in the moment and loving the act of making music together.
This track has an uplifting vibe to it that entirely holds your attention for the
full six minutes even without any vocals or some twerking in a gold bikini – go
figure, right? Anyway, this will divide opinion I’m sure but for me it’s a
slice of pure escapism and something I could have on a loop for an hour or so
while I got on with something I’d been putting off for too long. Is anti-procrastination
rock a thing? It is now.
