MICAH P. HINSON & THE MUSICIANS OF THE APOCALYPSE – SINGLE REVIEW

Micah P. Hinson & the Musicians of the
Micah P. Hinson - Small Spaces
Apocalypse – Small Spaces

Release Date: Out Now

The mercurial Micah P. Hinson’s transformation in to a 21st century Hunter S. Thompson (middle initial, cigarette holder, the lot) is nearly complete and with an album on the way called ‘When I Shoot You With Arrows, I Will Shoot To Destroy You’, this might just be the time to get involved if you haven’t already been involved in some way, shape or form. New single ‘Small Spaces’ opens with a rattle of drums and then suddenly the church flings open its doors for the reverend Hinson to preach atop a swathe of organ. Part Springsteen, part Gundersen, part Cave and with the Arcade Fire as a backing band this is as moving and uplifting as it is shambolic and raw. This feels like the kind of song you might write when you’re dealing with extreme and present grief and that kind of raw, unfettered emotion is very, very welcome in music right now.
