Montreal’s Laye is a solo artist
trading in the alt-pop journey and she’s got a unique sound to throw in to the
mix. Vocally, Laye fits in alongside the likes of Dua Lipa, Kailee Morgue and
Angie in terms of the dreamy and not overly energetic approach which is all
good with me. The uniqueness comes in the combination of this voice with a melody
that flits between 80s sugar pop, dark 90s Trip-Hop and uber-contemporary
production qualities. For a song about getting through the bad times with your
partner in crime there’s a real mix of dark and light in this song which makes
it a deliciously different prospect.
