LIBRALIBRA – SINGLE REVIEW

LibraLibra – Tongues
LibraLibra - Tongues

Release Date: Out Now

Brighton band LibraLibra aren’t here to make up the numbers, that’s for sure. ‘Tongues’ is the band’s second single and it’s a tour-de-force that sets the band head and shoulders above their peers right now. Framed around the formidable vocal talent of Beth Cannon, ‘Tongues’ has the performance elements of Bjork, Kimbra or Kate Bush but the power of Beth Ditto or Patti Smith in full flight. Then there’s the chorus which mixes the aforementioned vocal influences in with abrasive but melodic musicianship of Idles or Jamie Lenman to create an unapologetic, unashamed and uncompromising listen that isn’t so much an earworm but more an aggressive consciousness eel. I’m pinning my colours to the mast and putting this one down as a big contender for single of the year and with the accompanying video seemingly depicting a mash up of Marie Antoinette and Lady Gaga having a tea party with some gimps you’re surely going to agree with me, right?
