Stockholm duo I Am Karate are back with new single ‘Expectations’
and it’s a lighter-than-air slice of pop that has a natural joy to it that’s
hard to ignore. “I get so high on expectations but you’re never there flying
with me” the pair sing as their tail of a failing relationship unfolds atop a
bouncy and infectious pop melody that would be the stand out song on the Eurovision
song contest by virtue of being a decent song with lyrics that actually make sense.
There is so much good pop around at the moment and this lightness and optimism of
this melody mixed with the frustration in the lyrics makes this one of the
picks of the bunch.
