London collective Mono Club are
back with another single ahead of their eagerly anticipated debut album in May.
‘Best Laid Plans’ has a mesmerising quality to it from the off as furtive
guitars and a pulsing, dominant bass line do battle in among an Arcade Fire
meets Flaming Lips melody and vocal harmonies. There’s a typically English and
ambitious feel to this which is reminiscent of early Fleetwood Mac and Pink
Floyd and I can’t think of a higher compliment to pay a band in it’s early
stages, albeit one full of musicians that are at the top of the game. Next
stop, album town, and I can’t wait.
