Finnish alt-pop soloist Alba admits
that this song came about through a struggle to write something uplifting whilst
not really ‘feeling it’ and so we are, fortuitously, grateful to be in the
presence of new single ‘Dirty Tears’. “Love will pull tricks on us but we have
to carry on” sings Alba on top of a Europop beat but embellished with stabbing
melodic notes, Alba’s lush, Robyn-esque vocal and a sense of emerging from the
darkness or the ruins of what’s going before. Alba is a new artist on my ears
but with a fresh take on the increasingly (and ironically) popular alt-pop
genre she is certainly someone worth keeping an eye and an ear on.
