PINK KINK – SINGLE REVIEW

Pink Kink – Bubblebutt

Pink Kink - Bubblebutt

Release Date: Out Now

According to Facebook, the four women that comprise Pink Kink are Pinky, Kinky, Stinky and Linky which sounds like some fucked up kids’ TV show but that’s not why we’re here today. No, the Liverpool based quartet bring us their new single ‘Bubblebutt’ but don’t go expecting some pneumatic, Minaj-esque affair here unless you want to be very, very wrong. This is just under two minutes of quirky, in-yer-face, bubblegum-punk that draws power from everyone from Television and Shampoo to Peaches and the B52s. The melody is there but it’s essentially irrelevant beneath the sugary sweet and lemony sour vocal delivery of the band. These four are having a good time but don’t for one second think that that’s all that’s happening here – this is a feminist party anthem and there ain’t no party like a feminist party.
