CHARLEY CROCKETT – SINGLE REVIEW

Charley Crockett – Lil’ Girl’s Name (Thirty Tigers)

Charley Crockett - Lil' Girl's Name

Release Date: Out Now

If you come across a guy called Charley Crockett from Texas then you’re going have to sit up and pay attention. Crockett’s new single ‘Lil’s Girl’s Name’ lives up the billing of channelling Roy Orbison and Buddy Holly but there’s also a bit of Duane Eddy in there too and a whole lot of class. The guitars shimmy and twang while the rhythm section is as tight as they used to be in the 50s when relentless gigging was part of the, well, gig. Crockett’s voice, meanwhile comes as naturally to this tune as a cowboy born on a horse which may well be actual story in this case. Hugely impressive, massively enjoyable and the kind of tune that feels like it’s been around for a very long time already which is a nice trick to pull.
