NICOLE ATKINS – SINGLE REVIEW

Nicole Atkins – Brokedown Luck

Nicole Atkins - Brokedown Luck

Release Date: Out Now

The start of the video to this track from Nicole Atkins is a Hunter S. Thompson inspired piece of weirdness (wonderful weirdness) before the piano fuelled stomp kicks in and we’re in the middle of a full-on freak out. ‘Brokedown Luck’ is sultry and raunchy but also desperate, sweaty and bug-eyed with Atkins’ scorched vocal cutting through proceedings like a rusty knife through warm butter. Blues, soul, R’n’B (old style) and indie sensibilities all mingle like wired hangers on at an aftershow party when nobody went to the show and, suddenly, you’re in love with Nicole Atkins and her take on the world.
