London duo Axel and Deniz are
Junky Love and new single ‘Hooked’ is here to blow away the early year malaise
of 2018. From the waspish guitar notes that haunt the opening bars of this song
to the pounding, Viking sized drums, ‘Hooked’ swaggers like Queens of the Stone
Age or Foo Fighters but the sneer is more rooted in the Clash or the
Libertines. The guitars are impressive for their range of tones and shudders
while the drums are not to be messed with, putting this pair in the same league
as the likes of the Picturebooks, Moriaty and some kind of sexy hybrid of the
Black Keys and Royal Blood. These are the good times.
