From the very get-go, this new
release from Surrey-based chanteuse Dol Vita is nothing but luxurious and that
goes for both the song and the video. ‘Dream’ starts like the problem child of
Lana Del Rey and Angie under house arrest and doesn’t deviate from that motif
throughout. There’s a sparse beat and melodies that keep to the shadows as Dol
Vita sings her soulful but woozy vocal to give this an edge. By the time the
dirty, growling bass kicks in the lights drop down in the video you know you’re
in the presence of a proper slice of classy alt-pop which will both arouse you
and make you feel uncomfortable. The climax to this is somewhere between the
darkest moments of Portishead and the most seductive elements of Lorde which is
a hell of a mix.
