THE CARESS – SINGLE REVIEW

The Caress – Man Up (Fierce Panda Records)
The Cares - Man Up

Release Date: Out Now

South-East London brothers The Caress (aka Tom, Ben and Sam Easton) are so hot right now and yet they are seemingly bubbling under the surface without scolding anyone just yet. ‘Man Up’ is coming out on the reliably cool Fierce Panda label and it’s a sub-three-minute slice of sunny indie-pop with a depressive’s heart. The gentle lilt is reminiscent of the Thrills at their peak and each guitar note is perfectly placed to pull on the heart strings. There’s something of the innocence of the Housemartins about this which I love but also the tweeness that came out of 90s Britpop with bands like Teenage Fanclub and The Supernaturals that is somehow comforting. Somehow, although it’s short on length, this song seems able to take it’s time about getting wherever it’s going and it’s fun to enjoy the ride.
