LA wunderkid Jean Castel is
launching his debut single on the world and it’s one hell of a sexy slice of R’n’B
pop. ‘In the Late Night’ lurches and slides through a deep, dark groove full of
stabbing strings and jerky beats with some serious pop nous and a sense of
awaiting seduction. Castel’s voice is ultra-smooth in an Adam Levine meets
Justin Timberlake kinda way and you could easily imagine this being performed
by someone in snug fitting tuxedo with the bow tie hanging around the neck, a
la Sinatra. But this is Sinatra for the 21st century with smooth
synths and beats to match. Not bad for a first effort, not bad at all.
