Irish singe Ailbhe Reddy make me
think of David Hasselhoff. There, I said it. Not for any musical or physical
appearance reasons but because I can’t read her name without singing the theme
from Baywatch. Reddy’s new single, however, is not a late 80s pop-rock romp but
rather a gently beautiful amble full of love, regret and tinges of sadness. ‘The
Tube’ has a swooping chorus that shows off Reddy’s voice perfectly riding
precariously atop the flowing guitar notes and minimalist drums. The video that
accompanies this single is as lo-fi as they come but equally touching which fits
the song perfectly. Better than anything the Hoff has ever produced, high
praise indeed.
