TURBOWOLF – SINGLE REVIEW

Turbowolf – The Free Life (So Recordings)
Turbowolf - The Free Life

Release Date: Out Now

This is a beast of a tune. There’s no doubt either way on this fact. Turbowolf’s new single ‘The Free Life’ opens with a murderous bass line that is somewhere between the slickness of Royal Blood, the menace of Grinderman and the biker cool of Queens of the Stone Age or Les Anges. When that slow approach starts to speed up after a minute and a half, however, you can see the red eyes of this particular beast light up. The drums drive forward like a pile-driver, the guitars keep a tight rein on the melody and then the falsetto vocals sew it all together with black silk. With varying tempos, a bass line the size of Donald Trump’s ego and a running time of nearly six minutes this is an ambitious release but it works on every level and at every turn.
