Some artists stick in your head
and after the last single by Manchester’s Ghosts of Social Networks, I was
mighty pleased to see this latest release pop up in my inbox. ‘If This Isn’t
Love’ is and indie-pop powerhouse of a tune that starts with blistering drums
and a drawled vocal that could only have been sung from behind the darkest of
dark glasses. We’re talking The Jesus and Mary Chain levels cool but with a
catchy little melody and the kind of uplifting melody and bounce that should,
by rights, have sweaty indie clubs heaving up and down the country. This is
polished but edgy, controlled but chaotic, intense but lighter than air. Just
how rock and roll should be.
