IDESTROY – SINGLE REVIEW

IDestroy – Annie/98%
IDestroy - Annie/98%

Release Date: 10th March 2017

Bristol trio IDestroy have got all the components to make a great rock threesome: melodies, attitude, power, style and just enough substance to be worthy without being dull. This double-A side kicks off with ‘Annie’ and it has nothing to do with getting your gun or being ‘OK. Oh no, ‘Annie’ is all about rocking out with loose, knee high guitars and vocals that swagger with a curled lip in to any room accompanied by just the bass and drums. The ‘oohs’ and ‘yeahs’ of the chorus add a certain feminine sweetness to this tune but otherwise IDestroy rock with all the attitude of the Pretenders, Veruca Salt and Siouxsie and the Banshees. The line “she’s a mess y’all, with no regrets y’all’ sums up the ethos of the band perfectly. ‘98%’ is the other half of this release and here we shift in to a higher gear as those drums drive so relentlessly to make sure that, despite the melodies, this never falls in to pop territory for too long. Essentially, this is the bratty kid turning up at her friends princess pamper party with a bottle of Jack stolen from her parents and with one thing in mind; mischief.
