I’ve always love a good
male-female pop duo from the British Isles. Eurythmics, Everything but the
Girl, Dubstar, Yazoo – it’s a genre we do well. Ooberfuse are the latest in
that long and distinguished line and their new single is the distinctly
Westcountry sounding ‘My Lover’. This is ice cool, slinky and aloof stuff that
is based around a bursting little bass line, a Motown beat and the breathy
vocals of Cherrie Anderson. This is classy stuff and beats any of the mass
produced chart filling pop that currently clutters our airwaves hands down.
