Vitalic, let’s be honest, is just one guy. One hell of a guy though. One guy called Pascal Arbez-Nicolas. The new single from Vitalic, ‘Use It or Lose It’, features the vocal talents of Mark Kerr and, well, it’s a throbbing, storming slab of dance. Starting off with a Goose-esque bass drone and an emerging beat, Kerr’s vocal is breathy and slightly sinister but then there’s a Daft Punk meets LCD Soundsystem dropout before the tune really kicks in. There are remnants of Jean Michel-Jarre about this in the sounds and structure but there’s way more energy and intention to get folk moving behind ‘Use It or Lose It’. I would certainly recommend adding this to your running or gym play lists for a bit of grit and determination. I would do the same if I ever thought I’d go running or to the gym but, y’know, I don’t like to.
