takes to start and finish but it’ still better than everything in the charts
these days. ‘Son of Go’ kicks in with a circular guitar riff and is soon
followed by some Doors-esque organ work and the kind of drumming Keith Moon
would have been ripping out in his prime. The psych-garage romp of Lancaster’s
Three Dimensional Tanx is infectious and had to ignore when the guitars and
organs drop out do reveal a tight, funky rhythm section and the kind of
gravelly vocals that you’d be a fool to ignore. Elements of the Madchester
sound and obvious throw backs to the pscyh-scene are all to be found here but
there’s a very current feel to Three Dimensional Tanx as a certain frustration
and edginess breathes through their music as it does through the world this
summer.
