THE COMPUTERS – SINGLE REVIEW

The Computers – This Ain’t Right (One Little Indian)
The Computers - This Ain't Right

Release Date: 15th July 2016

Exeter combo The Computers have been steadily making a name for themselves over the past few years and have survived that difficult second album with their third approaching fast on the horizon. Before that album drops, however, they’re treating us to a single by the name of ‘This Ain’t Right’ via the always excellent One Little Indian label. From the outset, this tune is a big, floor filling indie-pop anthem with a broken heart and tears in its eyes. Melodically there are elements of Cee-Lo Green and Paloma Faith but with more of an ‘Everything Must Go’ era Manic Street Preachers style to the production. I can hear this pumping out across crowds of revellers at festivals this summer and straddling the market between BBC Radio 1 unit shifting glory and BBC 6 Music critical acclaim. Essentially, ‘This Ain’t Right’ is the thinking man’s (or woman’s) indie pop which bodes very well for the third album.
