Swedish songstress Vanbot has a
new single for your listening pleasure ahead of a new album out in May. 'The
Way You Say It' is an 80s inspired dance tune with a very 'now' vibe and the
pop sensibilities of Robyn, Sia or Bat For Lashes. Rippling synths, some
serious beats and uplifting vocal melodies are all held together by some sparse
piano chords. The closest reference point I can think of is LadyHawke with that
mix of cutting edge pop nous and classic dance structures but Vanbot's voice is
so wonderfully diverse - ranging from fragile and thin to fist-poundingly
defiant -that this tune definitely has a life of it's own so we should all
start expecting big things from the album. No pressure.
