It's always difficult to
critically review a song that is being released to raise money for a charitable
cause because nobody likes the douche who slates the work of a charity. The
charity in question this time is The Foundation for Angelman Syndrome
Therapeutics which aims to research and treat Angelman Syndrome which is a rare
genetic disorder that affects the nervous system - a worthy cause indeed. The
song being release to raise money for this cause (and all proceeds go to the
charity) is the appropriately named 'Angel' and it's a soft, piano focused ballad
with an uplifting undertone. The lyrics directly reflect the battles and
positivity in the face of adversity that people born with disabilities so often
display which makes for an emotional ride. Sure, it's a fairly simple song but
it has a simple message and that comes across loud and clear through Ilana J's
soft but strong voice.
