LUNA LEPAGE - SINGLE REVIEW

Luna LePage - Phoenix
Luna LePage - Phoenix

Release Date: Out Now

I don't get sent much from Buckinghamshire so this debut release from the area's Luna LePage is noteworthy for that if nothing else. 'Phoenix' is the first official release from the quartet and starts with some eerie delta guitar notes and the smoky, sultry vocals of Luna herself. This is blues-rock steeped in atmosphere and weighed down by a heavy soul with influences ranging from Winehouse to Franklin and a nod to the likes of Ben Harper along the way. LePage's voice is stunning and the musicianship is sensibly sparse to allow those pipes room to breathe and flourish as the song unwinds like a recently roused snake creeping out in to the night. As a single it's a brave choice as it doesn't really grab you by the throat but it will creep up on you and before you know it you're going back for just one more hit/listen. Just one more.....
