Ah, The Fratellis. Long standing
favourites of the football highlights montage and mid priced European car
advert. It's been a while but the trio are back with their brand of perky,
dirty indie-pop-rock in the form of new single 'Baby Don't You Lie To Me' .
Essentially, this is somewhere between early Supergrass, the Datsuns and the
Zutons with a suitably chunky bass line and simple but effective pounding
drums. There's a bit of Slade and Mud in there as well and really these guys
are just continuing a long tradition of uncomplicated but fun guitar based
music and for that, if nothing else, we should be glad they are back. And they
can't even be doing it for the money as those royalty cheques must be rolling
in.
