PACIFIC - SINGLE REVIEW

Pacific - Those Nights
Pacific - Those Nights

Release Date: Out Now

Piano indie. It's had a bad rap over the past few years. Keane kinda cornered the market and then threw up in said corner and let me tell you, vomit is bloody hard to get out of a piano. Cheshire quartet Pacific are cleaning up that old Joanna though with a take on the genre and the instrument that has a more epic, grandiose vibe like the Killers getting the crowd good and warmed up for U2. This latest single, 'Those Nights', has an unavoidably Keane-esque beginning but by the time the chorus hits an edge starts to emerge that puts this firmly in the alt-pop category. You can easily imagine this being used in the soul searching post-break up scene of a Hollywood rom-com as the sweeping melodies and crooned vocals seek to soothe that broken heart. Too big a sound for Cheshire, methinks, time for these guys to move up to another league, albeit via the Playoffs.
