Time for the new one from LWM
favourite Cosmo Sheldrake and I'm so confident that this is going to be a
smasher that I haven't even considered that it might disappoint me. Dangerous.
The intriguingly titled 'Pelicans We' is, of course, absolutely wonderful from
the outset. A twitchy, jerky, clicky beat is soothed with some whimsical keys
and, if you're not distracted by the video that was filmed in the Budapest
Baths, you'll soon notice Sheldrake's eccentric voice joining in like the more
indie son of Mr B the Gentleman Rhymer. Those hip-hop beats, layered vocals and
dark, woodland inspired vibes are all trademarks of the genius that is Cosmo
Sheldrake but the man just gets better with every tune. This one is more
subdued than others that have gone before but even in downtempo mode, this guy
beats most other people in to a cocked hat. A big, cocked hat.
