DIRTY WHITE FEVER - SINGLE REVIEW

Dirty White Fever - 7.83hz (Goodbye Weirdo Records)
Dirty White Fever - 7.83hz

Release Date: 7th May 2015

Brighton duo Dirty White Fever have a great name. I'm just putting that out there straight away. That doesn't guarantee the music will be good but it gives me a reason to give a shit so that's a start. Thankfully, new single '7.83hz' is worth giving a shit about as the scuzz blues'n'roll is powerful, swaggering and frenetic in all the best ways. Somewhere in the landscape of duos you will find Dirty White Fever standing between the Black Keys, Royal Blood, Failure Machine, Moriaty and the White Stripes but with a punkier edge and a real break-neck edge to things that feels like you're careering through the Vegas streets at 90mph on a Saturday night in a convertible. The b-side to this single, 'Hip Hop (live)', is an absolute beast. Spoken word rantings are blasted out of the air by the heavily distorted guitar, rattling drums and the rolling, spitting rap that comes firing at you from every direction. Sure, it's a rough cut and the sound quality is what you would expect from a live recording but oh my word the energy, the power and the raw sex appeal is unavoidable and, frankly, why would you want to.
