A BILLION LIONS - SINGLE REVIEW

A Billion Lions - Torquay (Hidden Trail Records)
A Billion Lions - Torquay

Release Date: 27th April 2015

What's this then? A quartet from Bradford/Leeds named after a terrifying number of feline beasts with a song named after the English Riviera. That's what. New single 'Torquay' is the debut release from Northern lads A Billion Lions and it, well, it's agitated. The spoken word verses are itchy, jumpy, ranty and somewhere between Frank Turner and Liam Lynch with a nod to Henry Rollins if he was English and middles class. Then comes the chorus which is big, catchy, 90s influenced and tailor made to be sung back at the band in festival tents around the English countryside this year. I'm hooked. There is still more to come from this band but like city rivals NARCS and Allusondrugs I think there are big things to come for these boys so watch this space (literally, I'll let you know just as soon as any new material comes my way).
