What a wonderfully bold statement
it is to launch a pop career under the name Eva Universe!? I mean, you are
giving yourself the title of Miss Universe without even slipping on a swimsuit
or rubbing lubricant on your teeth. Regardless of the name, this new single and
video, 'Trapped', opens with a spot of Lady Gaga-esque piano and earnest
singing from our heroine. Before long, the verse is building ominously towards
the chorus and soon there is a r'n'b lite feel to affairs with some proper girl
power passion behind the vocals. During the video Eva changes outfits to look
like an extra the Bold and the Beautiful at one point and then the star of an
East European version of TOWIE in another. Lacking the punch or sophistication
of many of her contemporaries, Eva Universe leaves me only able to compare her
to a low-budget Anastacia without the voice or the glasses.
