| The Bad Years - Common Mistake |
LA duo The Bad Years have a new
single for your attention and if you're a fan of Dubstar, St Etienne, Goldfrapp
or Everything But The Girl then you are more than likely going to fall head
over heels for these guys. 'Common Mistake' is fresh, poppy and light, there's
no denying that, but there is a dark heart to this music evidenced by the deep,
grimy synth notes and vocalist Sami Akbari's forlorn tones which have an almost
dreamy French quality to them. I have to admit, this is not the kind of music I
expected to come out of Lala Land but the substance more than matches the style
here so this gets my seal of approval.
