MAIIANS - SINGLE REVIEW

Maiians - Lemon
Maiians - Lemon

OK, I don't often say this but when you listen to this track for the first time you have to do it with the video playing as well. This is a music video for the Youtube and You've Been Framed Generations featuring some amazing clips that all work superbly with the music so it just adds something truly special to the mix. From Japanese bassists in drag and keyboard playing doges to a funky Walrus and a man blowing in to a chair - it's got it all. Which is good, really, because this new single from Oxford collective Maiians, 'Lemon', is a funky, jazz infused seven minutes of electro nutsiness that you should get your ears around pronto. Slick bass, fluttering keys, drums that make you want to move and the feeling of genuine inventiveness all combine to make something truly engaging and enthralling. A little bit of Lemon Jelly, a smidge of Gilbert and you're getting there but this is very much an original experience and one to be enjoyed.
