ROSCO & THE DIRTY PLAINS - SINGLE REVIEW

Rosco & The Dirty Plains - GoldMine
Rosco & The Dirty Plains - GoldMine

We're off to a strong start with this one as the band name and song title are both pretty cool so that's a bonus before we've even heard a note. Once the opening strains of 'GoldMine' begin you could be forgiven for thinking that this is going to be an introspective acoustic number throughout....but you'd be wrong. The gravelly vocals give this a wild west feel from the outset but as the tune builds with some slightly over-egged guitars you start to recognise this for the rock ballad that it is. This is the kind of song that belongs on a Smirnoff advert and, while it is necessarily pitch perfect or beautifully mixed, there is a raw energy and enthusiasm that is tangible which almost certainly stands for something.
