Brooklyn-ite Oliver Kalb is the
brains and brawn behind Bellows and that is something he really ought to be
quite proud of. New single 'Funny Things' is full of guitars that full every
space in your ears, drums that scatter all over and a vocal style that is reminiscent
of a dusky American version of Snow Patrol being remixed by LCD Soundsystem. There is a
certain captivating chaos to this single that somehow makes sense and makes you
want to get involved. By the time we reach the soft, unaccompanied vocal
harmonies at the end there is not one inch of doubt that this is a huge tune
and an even bigger talent.
