HUIAS - SINGLE REVIEW

Huias - Wooden Moon
Huias - Wooden Moon

If you're looking for some darkly seductive electro-pop with big fat bass squelches and rippling synth notes then you've come to the right place which, incidentally, is Gijon in Spain. Huias are duo/occasional trio who make single like 'Wooden Moon' which sounds something like Robyn and Alison Goldfrapp might sound if they'd been held captive by Tricky, Aphex Twin and Royksopp only to develop Stockholm syndrome before popping on a slinky outfit and dancing seductively for their captors.  There is something that draws you in to the jittery electro noises through the siren call of Maria Lastra that I can't quite put my finger on but it feels exciting and degrading in equal measure. Perfect late night music.
