THE MOONS - SINGLE REVIEW

The Moons - Heart & Soul (Schnitzel Records)
The Moons - Heart & Sou

Release Date: 31st March 2014

I don't know what I was expecting from this single from Northampton lads The Moons but it sure as hell isn't what I got. These guys play rock'n'roll with a real swagger and sense of occasion that's been missing from British music for some time. 'Heart & Soul' flirts with the much underrated glam era with a great T-Rex bassline but then layers on the horns of a Motown hit and the guitars of a sleaze rock band in the vein of Louis XIV. I could go on about the instrumentation but it's the coolness and lounge lizard sex appeal that the song is delivered with that really deserves your attention. Front man Andy Crofts is part Bowie, part Bolan, part Jagger and way, way more exciting than any other so called rock star knocking around the UK music scene these days. This is what Russell Brand thinks he sounds like....but he doesn't.
