Recent Xtra Mile signings,
Florida punks Against Me!, have an album coming out on 20th January but I know
a few folks who are so hotly anticipating this release that I thought I would
cover this pre-album release of new song 'FUCKMYLIFE666'. Charming text title
aside, this is a song full of melody, energy and a spirit of defiance in the
face of a world drowning under its own obsession with appearance. The
relentless pace of this sub-three minute gem perfectly juxtaposes the weight of
the lyrical subject matter, summed up in the line "No more troubled sleep,
there's a brave new world raging inside of me". If you like Crazy Arm, the
heavier moments of Frank Turner, Springsteen and Northcote then you'll love
this and if you already love Against Me! then the album sounds to be shaping up
well on this evidence.
