The gentle, almost hypnotic, intermingling of guitar strings at the start of this debut release from Brighton band Thimble is a most welcome sound. 'Dinner At Six' is an unassuming yet powerful track that takes elements of Jazz, weaves them into folk and stitches in some jewels from Syd Barrett's Pink Floyd to create an detailed tapestry that you can just stare at for hours. This is an ambitious song for anyone but for a debut single it is positively bold and you can only applaud them for such unabashed creativity.
