HOT JUICE - EP REVIEW

Hot Juice - Under The Bridge Live Sessions EP

Release Date: 15th May 2026

Sometimes you just read a band's name you pray they're going to be good but sadly that's not always the case. Thankfully, superbly named Brighton outfit Hot Juice are actually pretty great so we can all breathe a sigh of relief and enjoy their new EP, 'Under The Bridge Live Sessions'. We get going with 84 seconds of rock'n'roll sexuality on 'Good Intentions' which is a mixing pot of Queens of the Stone Age, Hoggboy and the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. The distortion bleeds across into 'Primitive Animals' which has a caveman energy in the riffs and drums but a more performative vocal that brings it forward through the millennia.

The raw, rock'n'roll stomp of 'Everytime' is infectious and has that live sound which transports you to the darkest corners of your favourite dive bar with cans of cider on special offer. Closing track 'I,I,I...' is perhaps the pick of the bunch with an agitated energy that is part Iggy Pop, part Hot Hot Heat and part some weird hybrid of the Strokes and the Arctic Monkeys. This is a great 4 track calling card and gives you a great insight into a band who put as much into their energy as they do into their song writing.
