I am actively seeking out beautiful music at the moment to balance out the horrors in the world but this one sought me out and, for that, I will be eternally grateful. Hannah Scott's new single 'In Your Light' starts with the kind of acoustic strum that feels like you've been transported to your best mate's sofa for a jam and a chat. Then come the vocals which are effortlessly pure, sweet, and poised like the words of comfort and wisdom from a parent when you're at your lowest ebb. The final piece of the puzzle is the carefully crafted set of lyrics that speak of the love and admiration of a grown up child and their parent. The cherry one the cake is the swelling and gorgeous string arrangement but the kick in the emotional guts is the softly delivered line, "I hope you're proud". So, here's the trigger warning; if, like me, you've recently lost a parent, have a box of tissues ready before you listen to this one. Do listen though, it's beautiful stuff.
