When you get a new track to review and it's from the mind of Queens of the Stone Age bassist Michael Shuman you have to be excited but I have to admit even I wasn't expecting this. Trading under the name GLU, Shuman has released 'Pony Boy' for your funky delectation and it is a slinky beast so make sure you're braced and ready. Dirty basslines (of course) and a funky beat set the tone like a Chicago basement club before the snaking guitars and sleazy vocals give this a Cooper Temple Clause vibe but with Mark Ronson on production duties and LCD Soundsystem lurking in the shadows. A sexy delight and there is no higher praise than that.
