I couldn't close out 2025 without covering this latest release from Indonesian outfit Thee Marloes - one of the best bands bubbling under the surface of breaking through. 'Harap Dan Ragu' (apparently an Indonesian phrase that expresses ambivalence) opens with some classic soul vibes in the hugely chilled beat and melody combination but its the effortlessly breezy vocal that really carries you away on a cloud of jasmine. This is the perfect combination of South East Asian influences and 70s soul vibes which makes it a fusion of two unlikely worlds but boy oh boy it works.
