BAILEY TOMKINSON & THE LOCALS - EP REVIEW

Bailey Tomkinson & the Locals - Witching Hour
EP

Release Date: Out Now

As we coast towards the end of 2025 on fumes (no? just me?), its always good to turn to music for a little seasonal comfort and Cornish collective Bailey Tomkinson & the Locals have comfort by the bucket load. This new EP, 'Witching Hour', opens with the title track and immediately I can feel myself de-stressing as the Fleetwood Mac tones wash over you like a warm hug after a long day. Former single 'Supermoon' is a little more lively with bouncing guitars, Tomkinson's radio-ready vocal and an up-tempo beat getting under your skin with a mixture of country, pop, Americana and a smidge of soul.

In unprecedented move, there are two moon references on this four track EP as 'Moonshine' comes along with a countrified chug soothed by some gorgeous slide guitar work. Final track 'Chrysalis' is edgier and more aggressive than its predecessors but those vocals keep us sweet while the lyrics deliver a more barbed message backed by a punchy beat and a band firing on all cylinders. There's another level for Bailey Tomkinson & the Locals to reach now and I hope, for them as much as for us, that level is reached because this is music with real heart, genuine talent and the ability to connect with people from all walks of life - a rare trick indeed.
