Many of you will know Matthew C. Whitaker as part of the bonkers HENGE outfit but here we have an example of what the man can do on his lonesome. 'Lucid Dreamer' is a lush and luxurious experience that opens with a flourish of strings and has something of a 50s vibe about it, like a song that didn't quite make the cut for the recent Fantastic 4 reboot. We soar, float and meander upon the gentle astral currents created by Whitaker and his crooning vocal that is as smooth as velour and as dashing as astronaut just before boarding the shuttle. Beautiful, dreamy stuff.
