Better Joy - Steamroller

I don't know if its the video, the song or the combination but, for me, this is the best release so far from Manchester's Better Joy. 'Steamroller' opens with an infectiously but simple guitar riff that hooks you in and then the 80s inspired melodies take over with Better Joy's vocals soaring effortlessly above it all. There are hints of Johnny Marr's guitars but blended with the kind of pop vocal that wouldn't sound out of place along side Jane Wiedline or a moodier Belinda Carlisle. The lo-fi dinner party video that accompanies the song is also brilliant underplayed which just adds to the vibe. Excellence all round.
