Shears - Feel It

In a weird cultural cross-over, I first heard of Shears as part of the Hen Hoose collective in Scotland but then her name popped up as having written a jingle for the excellent Elis James and John Robins podcast. Less than a week later, her latest single arrives in my inbox so it would have been churlish, to say the least, to ignore 'Feel It'. Accompanied by a gorgeous animated video, this track immediately bristles with energy and pulse but that juxtaposes with Shears' impish but soulful vocal. The lightness of the vocals and melody is underpinned by an urgent beat and growling electro bass that anchors the tune as coming into the light from a place of darkness. Well worth checking out.
